The background
Where the standard comes from
Most of my 20 years has been residential, which is where you learn to work in someone's home without turning their week upside down. Alongside that I spent 6 years on high end commercial work: fit outs, large scale switchboard builds, high voltage cable terminations and data centre cabling.
A data centre is about as unforgiving as this trade gets. Nothing is approximate. Every cable is documented, every termination is tested, every circuit is labelled so the next person is not guessing. If something fails, the cost is measured in millions and somebody has to explain exactly why.
That kind of work changes how you do everything else. You stop cutting corners because you have seen what corners cost. You over communicate. You test things you are already confident about. It is a depth of capability most residential electricians simply do not carry.
Power Connect is built on one principle: do the job right, or don't take it on. Every job is personally supervised and signed off by me, the licence holder, and my name is on every certificate issued. Where the scope demands it, trusted and qualified tradespeople may assist on site. The supervision, the sign off and the standard do not change.
